GIFT GUIDE FOR THE LITTLE GIRL

It’s time to start thinking about all of the magical moments this holiday season and holiday gift giving.  Lexi’s birthday is also in December which makes her one of the hardest people for me to shop for. Last year she didn’t start to really say what she wanted for Christmas until after her birthday which makes shopping early for her hard.  This year she’s given a few ideas (and has said them more than once so I’m confident they are things she actually wants and will use).  Here are a few things currently on my radar for Lexi for Christmas or her birthday.  I hope it helps give you ideas for the little girls in your life.

  1. Lexi has been asking for a piggy bank.  I think she would really like this star bank.  Plus it’s neutral enough that it can grow with her and her room for a number of years.
  2. Lexi really loves her dolls.  I know we are growing near the end of this phase of her childhood (someone pass the tissues) I think she would love this one.  Although she did just find a couple of dolls in stores that she really liked so we will see which one makes it under the tree.
  3. She’s been asking for an anywhere chair for a long time now.  She really wants a reading nook in her room, how can you say no to that?
  4. She really loves jewelry and accessories.  I picked these up on major sale awhile back and have them stashed for either her birthday or Christmas.
  5. She loves doing puzzles and needs some that are a bit harder than what we have.  I think she would really like this one.
  6. Her friend got this karaoke microphone for her birthday recently and Lexi loved it and asked for one as well.
  7. Lexi has outgrown her bike and asked for a new one.  I think this one is super cute.
  8. Another thing she’s outgrown and has been asking to have replaced, rain boots.

I hope this was helpful for your holiday shopping!

DANCE CLASS FAVORITES

This is Lexi’s fourth year in dance, which doesn’t seem possible.  This picture is from her very first day of dance class at 2 years old.  It’s also quite possibly one of the few times she’s ever worn a plain pink leotard to dance.

While I’m not claiming to know all things dance, little girls in cute dance wear is something I can weigh in on. My love of small shop dance wear has been strong her first three years of dance. There was no dress code and we took full advantage with the cute leotards from shops like This Tribe of Three, Alice & Ames, and Remie Girl.  Now that she’s a little older, her ballet class is strictly black leotards with pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Her other classes don’t have strict dress codes and we’re both loving big girl dance wear mixed in with our old favorite small shops.  Here are some of our tried and true favorites for tiny dancers.

Lexi wore 1, 2 (in smoke) and 4 to ballet a couple of weeks ago.  It’s such a cute combination and we received so many complements.

JEREMY ROENICK HOCKEY SCHOOL 2019

Just before school started Dylan attended the Jeremy Roenick Hockey School and had the best time.  Jeremy and his team put on a great camp with lots of time both on and off the ice.  There was no shortage of special guests and opportunities for photos and autographs.

BABY IT’S COLD OUTSIDE – WISH LIST FOR THE PRESCHOOL GIRL

It’s the first Monday of 2019.  I am back at work after taking some time off over the holidays and the kids go back to school tomorrow.  It was SO nice to be able to spend so much time with the kids without having to keep a schedule or race from one thing to the next.  I definitely need to remember to take some time off in December again this year!

The last week or so it has been SO cold here!  It’s been colder here than it has been in the midwest (where we’re from) and I completely forgot how cold it can get and didn’t prepare AT ALL for it this year!  OOPS!

I usually get excited and pick up fall items when they come out and it doesn’t cool off enough so they don’t get worn. This year I skipped all of it except for a couple of pairs of pants for each of the kids.  The cold weather doesn’t usually last long, layering helps us to get the most out of the pieces we need for our short Arizona winters.  Here are a few things I’m currently loving for Lexi for the next couple of months, because baby it’s cold outside! (at least for Arizona)

1 – I love a cozy pom hat and think Lexi looks so cute in them both around town and at the ice rink.

2 – I love a neutral hoodie.  This is a piece that goes with everything and can be worn year round with shorts, over a swim suit, with leggings or jeans.  The options are endless.  Plus it’s unisex so they can match or coordinate, which we all love.

3 – I love this sweatshirt!  Pair it with leggings and number 6 and either of the jackets and you have the cutest and coziest outfit around.

4 – I really love this sherpa lined jean jacket.

5 – I absolutely love this jacket.  I like that it’s neutral colors so it goes with practically anything but in a really fun print.

6 – I love my Uggs and it’s been awhile since Lexi’s has a pair that have fit.  We spend so much time at the ice rink that I know she will get a ton of use out of them.

FAVORITE HOLIDAY PAJAMAS FOR SIBLINGS

Since the internet has pretty much decided to skip over November and head straight into Christmas I thought I’d follow suit and share my favorite holiday pajamas for siblings today.  The best holiday pajamas sell out pretty quickly, so it’s best to be prepared especially if you want them for something specific like holiday card photos or The Polar Express train ride.

My love for matching holiday pajamas runs deep. This picture is from our Christmas card photos a few years ago and still one of my favorites. You can see more of them here.

Dylan has officially outgrown the toddler department which makes finding coordinating pajamas a little bit harder but a couple of my favorites for matching or coordinating pajamas didn’t disappoint and brought them back again this year.favorite holiday pajamas for siblings1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

If you want to do family pajamas, I really like 2-5 because they tend to be staple prints brought back year after year. You can hand down the kids pajamas to younger siblings and not have to buy new adult pajamas every year. I keep saying we will do family pajamas and never have, maybe this year…
