I recently received my April Play! by Sephora box and I’m really excited for everything in this month’s box. Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription beauty box. Play! by Sephora - April 2017

This month’s theme was “Step it Up!” – Upgrade your everyday routine. I’m pretty in love with the theme and contents of the April box.

Here’s what was in my box and what the Sephora info sheet that’s included with the box has to say about each. I haven’t tried them all out yet but will let you know what I think soon!

Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream – Lightweight moisturizer with airy formula delivers a burst of hydration with three different types of hyaluronic acid. I’ve love the other Peter Thomas Roth products I’ve used and am always on the hunt for a great moisturizer, I cannot wait to try this one!

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate – Clinical strength exfoliator gently polishes skin with natural fruit enzymes to repeal a glowing complexion. I’ve used (and loved) this product in the past and am so happy to have it in my bathroom again.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer – This iconic primer creates the perfect canvas for makeup application while leaving skin soft and silky-smooth. Another one I’ve used and love and am excited to have in my makeup bag again.

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Waterproof Eye Pencil – Beloved by makeup professions, this creamy, budge-proof eyeliner glides on easily and leaves and intense, jet-black color. This is actually the black eyeliner I’m currently using. I received a sample with an eyeshadow pallet and am excited to have a back up for when that runs out. Have you noticed a theme yet? This is why I love this subscription box. Everything I’ve received are products and brands I use and love!

Sephora Collection Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover – A gentle, go-to waterproof makeup remover perfect for sensitive eyes and enriched with lash-strengthening vitamins and extracts. I’m out of eye makeup remover so it’s the perfect time to try something new.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume – A playful, free-spitted, floral scent featuring a sparkling bouquet of wild strawberries, violet and jasmine.

I love that everything in this box is something I’ve either used and loved and am happy to have again or from a brand whose products I’ve used and loved and am happy to try something new. So far, the Play! by Sephora subscription has not disappointed and I find it a good value for $10/month. Have you tried it?

PLAY! BY SEPHORA: THREE MONTH THOUGHTS

I’ve received a few months of Play! by Sephora beauty boxes and thought I’d share my thoughts now that I’m three months in.  It’s been awhile since I’ve received any other subscription beauty box but even just reviving three months of the Sephora box, I’ve already received more products I liked and used than I did in a year with another beauty subscription box.

Play! by Sephora - Three Month Thoughts

I’ve found the samples I receive generally fall into these categories:

  • products I use and love and am so excited to have a travel size
  • products where a deluxe sample is the perfect size so I can chang up colors frequently
  • products where the sample size is enough to decide if I need to purchase the full size or not
  • products I just am not a fan of and can pass on to someone else

I love the Sephora box because I’ve been receiving brands I’m familiar with and already love. The samples so far have mostly been from brands I’m familiar with but colors or products I haven’t yet tried.  I love the Nars lipgloss I received in February and the Glamglow Glowstarter that was in my March box.

I also really like that the perfume sample is in addition to the five samples each box, a bonus product if you will.  I could honestly do without a perfume sample so having it not count toward my five samples is huge for me. I haven’t changed perfume in years and don’t have any plans to switch it up now. It’s funny how quickly I will change so many products but my perfume is a constant staple.

Overall, I’ve been very happy with the Play! by Sephora beauty box.  If you’re on the fence about trying this box, give it a try.  I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Want to know what I received in my first three boxes?  You can find them here, here and here.

PLAY! BY SEPHORA – MARCH 2017

I recently received my third Play! by Sephora box and I’m really excited for everything in this month’s box.  Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription beauty box.  For ten dollars, you receive five deluxe samples of beauty products sold at Sephora as well as a perfume sample and card to redeem in Sephora stores for 50 extra beauty insider points with any in-store purchase.

Play! by Sephora - March 2017

This month’s theme was “The Gleam Team” – Glow your own way: from high-wattage shimmer to a natural gleam.  I love a pretty highlighter and getting to try a few new products from some of my favorite brands is always fun.

Here’s what was in my box and what the Sephora info sheet that’s included with the box has to say about each.  I haven’t tried them all out yet but will let you know what I think soon!

Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer – Two-in-one moisturizer and luminizer hydrates, blurs, and enhances any complexion with  a lit-from-within finish.  I’ve used other Glamglow products and really liked them.  I have high hopes for this one!

Algenist Reveal Concentrated Luminizing Drops in Pearl – Concentrated, serum-like drops impart a pearlescent sheen and antiaging benefits with a sheer, lightweight formula.  I’ve been wanting to try something similar to this for a long time but didn’t want to invest in a full size bottle without knowing if I would like it.  I am really excited to give this one a try!

Benefit Watt’s Up – Bestselling highlighter defines facial features with a luminous, soft-focus sheen and an easy-to-apply cream-to-powder formula.  I’ve had this and loved it!  I’ve been meaning to pick up a replacement and am so happy to have received this one!

Make Up For Ever Artist Eyeshadow in I-544 – Highly saturated, iridescent pink granite eyeshadow made with unique gel-powder formula and ultrafine pigments for smooth color.  I love Make Up For Ever.  Everything I’ve tried from MUFE, I’ve loved.  I’ve already tried this one out (I just couldn’t wait!) and I love the formula but wish it was a different color.  I will definitely look for this in a bronze or champagne color for summer.

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast – Weightless spray delivers long-lasting volume and texture for thicker, fuller-looking hair that is silky soft.  I can’t wait to try this one out.  I’ve tried a couple Living Proof products and really liked them.  The reviews for this product are really good, so I have high hopes for it.

Divine Clemenine Antelier Cologone – Inspired by the California coast, this scent sparkles with ripe citrus and a suggestion of sunny delicate florals.  I’m not usually a fan of the perfume samples included in the box.  I have a perfume I’ve used for years and love.  But this month, the cute packaging and post card that came with this sample caught my eye right away and I love the scent.

So far, I’ve been really impressed with every box.  Each box keeps getting better and better.  I am so happy with everything in this box and cannot wait to see what’s in my April box.  For me, this is well worth the $10 price tag.

PLAY! BY SEPHORA – FEBRUARY 2017

This post contains affiliate links.  That means if you click on a link and make a purchase from the site, I will earn a small commission from the sale.

I recently received my second Play! by Sephora box and I like the contents of this box a little bit more than the January box.  Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription beauty box.  For ten dollars, you receive five deluxe samples of beauty products sold at Sephora as well as a perfume sample and card to redeem in Sephora stores for 50 extra beauty insider points with any in-store purchase.

Play by sephora February 2017

This month’s theme was “The Soft Side” – make a radiant understatement.  This theme is perfect for me and my current daily makeup routine which is admittedly pretty simple these days.

Here’s what was in my box and what the Sephora info sheet that’s included with the box has to say about each.  I’ve yet to try them out and will let you know what I think soon!

NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound – A nude-pink, stay-stay-all day liquid lipstick that applies easily and leaves a semi-matte finish with a silky feel.  I can’t decide how I feel about matte lips on myself so I am excited to try out this lip glide in a color I would have been drawn to in the store.

Too Faced Lip Injections Glossy in Milkshake – Sheer tinted gloss uses a botanical-infused formula to visibly plump lips instantly while also hydrating and softening over time.  I love a sheer lip gloss and have been loving the Buxom glosses lately which are also a plumping formula so hopefully this one is just as good.

Sephora Lashcraft Length & Volume Mascara – A jet-black volumizing mascara with an innovative flat paddle-shaped wand to lengthen and lift lashes.  They say this formula washes away with just water.  I’m excited to give it a try to see if it stays without smudging but washes away easily.  If it does, I may just have found my new favorite mascara.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream – A luminous eye cream infused with coffee beans, ginseng, and magnolia extract to visibly brighten and depuff the undereye area.  I love Origins products but this is one I haven’t tried so I’m happy to have a sample of this eye cream.

Clinique Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturizer – A lightweight, oil-free moisturizer-meets-primer instantly blurs imperfections while providing all-day hydration for a silky, soft-focus finish.  This is another one I’m excited to try.  They also say you can use it over your make up for quick fixes during the day – simply pat into areas that need extra shine control and hydration.

Marc Jacobs Divine Decadence perfume sample – Effervescent, floral, and bright, this sparkling, champagne-doused scent is the embodiment of luxury and glamour.  To be honest, I could do without the perfume samples so I am simply going to tell you what the Sephora card and let you try it for yourself if you’re interested.

Overall, I am pretty happy with this box.  Receiving two lip products is right up my alley.  I love trying lip products but rarely finish them before moving onto the next so deluxe sample sizes are perfect for me.  They are also great to travel with without taking up much room in a TSA approved bag for liquids.

PLAY! BY SEPHORA – JANUARY 2017

This post contains affiliate links.  That means if you click on a link and make a purchase from the site, I will earn a small commission from the sale.

I just received my first Play! by Sephora box.  Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription beauty box.  For ten dollars, you receive five deluxe samples of beauty products sold at Sephora as well as a perfume sample and card to redeem in Sephora stores for 50 extra beauty insider points.

A number of years ago I subscribed to a different beauty box and wasn’t overly impressed with what I received each month and have been skeptical of subscription boxes ever since.  The Sephora box has been getting good reviews on products received so I decided to give it a try.  Here’s what was in my January box:

sephora play january 2017

Tarte frxxxtion stick – exfoliating gel cleanser in a unique twist-up format transforms from a solid gel to a cleansing lather that gently sloughs away impurities.  I actually tried this a couple of months ago and really liked it.  It left my skin really soft.  I’m excited to have another sample.

Farmacy honey potion renewing antioxidant hydration mask – honey-based warming gel mask transforms into a decadent cream while evening skin tone, hydrating, and brightening.  I am not familiar with this brand but am really excited to try this one!

Ouai treatment masque – restorative mask helps to care for damaged hair and leaves strands feeling smooth and touchably soft.  Another brand I am not familiar with but am really excited to have a hair mask.  My hair can always usea good deep condition.

Clinique almost lipstick in black honey – sheer lip color with a glossy finish in the bestselling, cult-classic black honey shade.  This is the product I am most excited to have in my box this month.  I’ve almost purchased this product multiple times and am so happy to finally have it.  I love that it’s a deluxe sample size because it’s so hard to actually finish a lip product.

AmorePacific color control cushion compact broad spectrum spa 50+ – cushion format CC cream hydrates, protects skin and delivers build able, weightless coverage in two bendable shades.  I really wish the color I received was lighter.  The color is much too dark for me to wear as a CC cream, maybe it will work as a bronzer.

Tory Burch love relentlessly – unabashedly feminine and tender, this delicate scent features notes of pink pepper, orris and patchouli.

Overall, I am really excited to try these products.  Have you used any of them?  I would love to hear your thoughts!
