Uh-oh!

uh-oh

(unrelated, but I love this photo of Lex)

Last week I had a major uh-oh happen here on the blog.

You may have noticed that all posts from 2016 have now vanished.  They will not be coming back, unless you know some magic way to recover them that I am not aware of.

I ran some updates behind the scenes which resulted in first being completely locked out of the site. In order to gain access, I let my hosting company restore back to the last back up they had, which let me back in but resulted in a major mistake – I found out I did not have a nightly back up happening here on the blog.  Even though I was able to get back in, I lost everything I did in 2016! A major uh-oh indeed!

I am bummed to be missing the content from the first half of 2016 but looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store.

Oh, and now I have nightly back up so this kind of thing won’t happen again!

NORTH POLE OR BUST

We had Marnee from Marriott Photography take the kids picture for our Christmas card back in September and I am so in love with how they turned out!  We may not have a white Christmas, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try to make it to the North Pole. #northpoleorbust  Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

SIX WEEKS TO CHRISTMAS

Six weeks from today is Christmas Day!  Can you believe it?  Me neither.  I feel like summer just ended; it practically did here in Arizona!  With Thanksgiving in two weeks, Alexis’ birthday in three and Christmas in six; the rest of the year is sure to be a whirl wind of activities. In years past, I’ve always felt like the Christmas sneaks up on me. This far out, I would feel like I have plenty of time only to scramble to order gifts and wrap them.  I would let the season sneak past before getting in all of the fun activities I wanted to do with the kids.  Overall, I ended up feeling rushed and unable to truly enjoy the moment.  This year I want to get a head start and a game plan so I can enjoy the season as a family.  After all, Christmas is so much more fun with kids and they are only little for such a short period of time!  Here’s a little inspiration to get into the holiday spirit and things I am most excited for this year: six weeks Images from Pinterest. Sources: elf, stockings, be jolly, reindeer cookies, advent calendar, tree cookies, wrapping ideas

The last couple of years Dylan and I have baked and decorated Christmas cookies with my aunt and grandma and can’t wait to do it with both kids this year!  I haven’t done an Advent calendar before, but think it would be fun for the kids. Do you do one?  Do you have any suggestions for activities?  I would love to hear them!  Last year we bought an Elf on a Shelf. I had grand plans for our little elf and failed miserably.  Dylan didn’t really understand the concept and our elf ended up staying in the same spot for multiple days in a row.  Our elf will be visiting us for the 12 days before Christmas this year.  I think that seems much more manageable for this mama.

Here’s to the start of a happy and healthy holiday season. I would love to hear what fun things you have planned to do this year!

OH DEER!

I’ve always loved Christmas and having kids to celebrate with makes everything about it so much more fun!  This year I am excited to see Lex in her first Christmas program at daycare, the kids on Christmas morning and all of the fun activities leading up to the big day.  I have a lot planned for them between now and then to get into the spirit of Christmas and cannot wait to do it all!  All of the stores are getting decked out for the holidays and from experience, I know if you wait it will be gone.  So while I know it seems early, I am getting prepared for Christmas.  Here are a few of the things I am crushing on for the kids to make the next month or so a little more festive!

oh-Deer

For him:

Trapper hat – I absolutely love this hat.  I could see either of the kids wearing it while playing in the snow.  Gap

Jingle all the way tee – We always love our Peek tees!  This one is no different and would be so cute to pass down to Lex when he out grows it.  Peek, baby version here

Super soft jeans – These super soft jeans live up to their name!  They are incredibly soft and have gotten Dylan over the hump of not wanting to wear jeans.  He’s been wearing these lately and actually asks to wear jeans, which is a big step over here.  Gap

Plaid shirt jacket – This plaid shirt jacket is one of my favorites!  I hope Santa has one in his sleigh for Dylan.  Peek, baby version here

For both:

Striped pajamas – I love these rugby striped pajamas and so does Oprah!  They made her recently released list of favorite things.  I can’t wait to see the kids in these next month.  I love the kids in matching pajamas.  I can’t wait to see them in these in front of the tree.  Burt’s Bees

Reindeer – The kids got these in their stockings last year and they are so cute in person!  We love Jellycat stuffed animals and this did not disappoint.  If you are looking for something cute and cuddly, this is sure to be a hit.  Jellycat

For her:

Red dress – This dress is perfect for Lex for the holidays!  Christmas can be pretty warm here so this would be a great choice for her.  Worn alone or layered, it is the perfect choice for any holiday party! Peek

Pom hat – The pom on this hat is oh so cute!  It’s the perfect accessory for any outfit all winter long.  Anthropologie

Oh Deer sweatshirt – How cute is this sweatshirt?  The reindeer faces wrap around the arms to the back.  So cute with skinny jeans or red leggings.  This is a must for Lex! Gap

Skinny jeans – These jeans are a staple of us in the cooler months!  We had a pair last year and I can’t wait for her to wear them again this year!  I love the darker wash.  Peek

Here’s to the happiest of holidays!  I can’t wait for it all to begin!  If you have favorite holiday traditions, I would love to hear them in the comments.

TRICK OR TREAT 2015

I hope you had a happy Halloween and are coming down off a sugar high. I ate my fair share of the kids’ candy for sure! This year we took the kids trick or treating with another family and everyone had so much fun! We had an early pizza dinner, got dressed and hit the streets so we could be done in time for bedtime for the little ones.

I didn’t realize it until I went back through my photos, I didn’t get a single picture of my kids together on Halloween this year! #mommyfail  With promises of candy filling their baskets by simply a knock on the door with a “trick or treat” they were not into us taking many pictures.trick-or-treat-1 trick-or-treat-3No one answered the door at the first house they went to, the looks on their faces are priceless.  Where’s the candy?!?!trick-or-treat-2

It’s no secret that Halloween is not at the top of my favorite holiday list.  After seeing how much the kids like getting dressed up, Dylan wore his police officer costume to preschool three times the week before, I might just be convinced to get dressed up next year!  For now it’s time to put away the trick or treat bunting, bats and the cutest trick or treat bags until next year.
