Spring has sprung in Arizona. It’s in the 70’s today and they are calling for 80’s tomorrow and Friday. I’ve been browsing spring and summer clothes for the kids for awhile now but it looks like it’s time to actually make a few purchases.Gap Early Spring FavoritesDylan lives in these Old Navy shorts and a tee all spring and summer long. I will pick up a few pairs of both in tan and blue and he will literally wear them every day until next fall or winter.  Here’s to hoping they fit all summer because they don’t make them in big boy sizes.  Most of his shirts are too small so we need to stock up on tee’s and tanks for him.  A light jacket will be nice for cooler mornings on the playground at school and you can never have too many flip flops.

I’ve been meaning to buy both kids rain coats for a number of months and love this fruit covered poncho raincoat for Lex.  I also love the style of this denim jacket and think she will love the patches. She will need a light jacket in the morning’s for awhile yet.  I’m so happy Gap brought back the bow jelly sandals and hope they release more colors for summer. They are our favorite and for sure will be picking a pair of these up for Lex.  I love the peplum tank with the splatter pants, it makes the cutest outfit before it gets too hot.  We spend a lot of time outside and in the pool so I like to add a rashguard into the mix for the kids.  I love the watermelon print and ruffle on the bottoms of this suit.

Seeing all of the cute spring lines coming out makes me excited for spring and summer!  Gap is currently running a sale for up to 50% off baby and kids making it the perfect time to add a few spring things to your mini’s closet.

GAP NEW ARRIVALS FOR HER

This post contains affiliate links.  That means if you click on a link and make a purchase from the site, I will earn a small commission from the sale.

Happy Monday.  It seems like the weekend always goes by way too fast.  Ours was filled with lots of kids activities: dance class, ice skating lessons and a glow in the dark mini golf play date with friends and that was just Saturday.  Saturday night Nick and Dylan went to a hockey game while Lex and I enjoyed a quite evening at home.  Actually, she fell asleep early and I enjoyed a nice relaxing night on the couch.  I’ve been sick for a week so it was pretty much the perfect night after a busy day.

Dylan is all about hockey these days.  Every night he shoots around with Nick outside after dinner and they bought some small hockey nets this weekend.  They even chalked out a rink on our patio.  I love how excited he is and how much he wants to play.  It’s so cute to see him excited about different players and being really into the game.

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been working on cleaning out the kids closets.  They both have been growing so much that I know they will need new spring and summer clothes as soon as it starts warming up, which will be sooner than later here.  Gap is always a go to for both of the kids and I have my eye on a few of their new arrivals for Lex.  Replacing Dylan’s spring and summer clothes will be more of a challenge this year since he’s sizing out of toddler and into the big kid section.

A long sleeve dress with a pretty floral is perfect for chilly mornings with warmer day time temps and I love a dress paired with jeans as an option too.  Since we’ve been potty training and because it’s actually been cold (for us) she’s traded in her dresses for jeans or pants so a lighter wash is perfect as we head into spring.  White slip ons and heart shaped sunnies make for the perfect accessories for the outfit.

PEEK-A-BOOM SALE PICKS

This post contains affiliate links.  That means if you click on a link and make a purchase from the site, I will earn a small commission from the sale.

Happy New Year! I hope you have a happy and healthy 2017!

We rang in 2017 very low key at home this year and spent New Year’s Day with family.  I’m not big on resolutions but have a few things I want to accomplish in 2017 and will share them soon.
Today I wanted to share my Peek-A-Boom sale picks.  Peek kids is one of my favorite places to shop for both Dylan and Lex and their Peek-A-Boom sale is the best time to stock up.  Right now they are offering an additional 20% off of sale prices and there are a ton of cute items available.  I honestly cannot believe some of the sale items are still around.
Here are a few of my favorites:peek-a-boom picks for himtree tee | dude tee | shorts | man about town tee| school yard legend tee | yosemite thermal
I LOVE Peek graphic tee’s. They have the best graphic tee’s for boys and girls and we always get so many complements when the kids wear them. Dylan’s teacher actually sent me an email to tell me how much she liked his shirt when he wore this one on election day.  I love layering the short sleeve tee’s with a thermal shirt so they can be worn year round.

I’ve got my eye on the schoolyard legend shirt for Dylan.  He’s been into playing football at recess all year so I’m pretty sure he will love it.peek-a-boom picks for her

embroidered top | sweater | eyelet top | pink top | skirt

Lex got a big girl bike for Christmas which means she will be wearing more tops and pants (or shorts) in the up coming months than her beloved dresses – for bike riding anyway.  Is anyone else paranoid that their daughter’s dress will get caught in the rear tire?
I’ve had my eye on all of these tops since they came out last fall and cannot believe they are available and on mega sale. I love the pink button up with a cute cardigan over top with jeans now and with white shorts for summer.
I think the skirt will be so cute with a bright tank or tee for spring and summer and again with a long sleeve tee next fall. Can you really go wrong with Liberty prints? I don’t think so. They are among my favorites each season for Lex.

10 THINGS TO REMEMBER FOR CHRISTMAS NEXT YEAR

I can hardly believe Christmas is over already.  It seems like just yesterday that it was Halloween and here we are putting away our Christmas decorations and getting ready for a new year.

Life Lately 1

Here are ten things I want to remember for Christmas next year:

1 – Start shopping early.  Will someone remind me to start shopping early next year?  I would love to be one of those people who is totally on the ball and done before Thanksgiving and not shopping two weeks before Christmas.

2- Have Minted address our Christmas cards.  Did you know if you buy your Christmas cards from Minted they will address your Christmas cards free of charge? (true as of this writing)  It’s pretty awesome and after I ruined more envelopes than I care to admit, I decided I’d go ahead and let Minted take care of this task for me next year; assuming they still offer this service.  I’ve already uploaded our Christmas card list to my account so all that I need to do next fall is update new addresses or make any additions and deletions.

3- Elf on the Shelf.  We bought an Elf on the Shelf two years ago and our kids were not into it at all, or quite possibly they were just too young.  We were also horrible at moving him.  He stayed in the same place most of the time and we didn’t even get him out this year.  I’m sure our kids will love having the elf visit now that they are older, but it also means we need to up our elf game.  I should probably start planning his 30 day visit now for next year.  I’d love for you to share your favorite elf on the shelf ideas in the comments.  If you see me pinning Elf on the Shelf ideas year round, you know why.

4- The Polar Express.  We’ve taken the kids to The Polar Express the last two years and it’s easily one of my favorite holiday events.  If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend it.  It’s so magical for kids and such a fun family experience.  Book your tickets early, like over the summer early, because it always sells out.

5- Plan family pajamas.  See number 4.  Yup, we will be in matching pajamas next year.  I debated too long this year and won’t make that mistake again next year.

6- Santa gift wrap, tags, etc.  Gone are the days when I can cruise the aisles of Target picking up a roll or two of gift wrap with the kids in tow.  I made that mistake this year and didn’t realize that they might (ok, totally would) recognize the paper and had to go back solo for more paper for Santa gifts.  As I was wrapping gifts, it dawned on me that I need to have different tags too next year.

7- Make a gingerbread house or two. Okay, maybe a whole village. On a whim I picked up a gingerbread house kit at Target a couple of weeks before Christmas and Dylan had so much fun decorating it with me.  Lex was’t really into it because she had to be patient while the house was constructed.  Next year I want to remember to pick up a couple of kits because I think by then she will be all about decorating one too and build the houses after the kids go to sleep so they are ready for decorating the next day.

8- Bake more cookies and treats with the kids.  They both really like cutting out cookies and decorating them.  Next year we will probably make at least two kinds of cookies, some candy and another treat or two.  I love baking with them. Baking with my mom are some of my favorite childhood memories, especially around the holidays.

9- Decorate early.  Since Lex’s Birthday is the first week in December I always thought I wanted to wait to decorate for Christmas after her birthday but the kids are so excited for all things Christmas that I think we will decorate early next year.

10- Decorate the kids rooms for Christmas.  See number 9.  They’ve both tried claiming decorations for their room next year and Dylan has a request in for his own Christmas tree so I think brining a few decorations, bedding and maybe that tree he’s after into their rooms next year will be on the agenda.

Do you have anything you want to remember to do next Christmas?

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS: DAY TWELVE

This post contains affiliate links. That means if you click on a link and make a purchase from the site, I will earn a small commission from the sale.

Yay!  We finally made it to day twelve of the 12 days of Christmas.  This series took on a life of it’s own; I didn’t initially intend for it to be so heavily focused on the little lady, but there were just so many cute girl things to share!12 days of christmas: day 12dress | tights | boots

I am so excited to share this final look with you today.  It’s another one from Childhoods Clothing, you might remember them from the coziest winter nights sets we shared on day nine.  This green tree print is ah-mazing.  I love both the ribbon dress and bloomers for Lex.  What I love even more is that Dylan can coordinate in the matching sweatshirt.  Lex loves matching Dylan even more than I love matching them.  Which, let’s be honest is usually just pajamas.  I love how Childhoods Clothing offers a number of pieces in the same print and coordinating solids so you can mix and match outfits or coordinate your children without having them in exactly the same pieces.

This collection released today and is sure to be a favorite all winter long.
