I’M BACK

Hi Friends!  After a much longer than expected hiatus, I’m back.

I didn’t really plan to take such a long break from blogging.  It just kind of happened.  Writing this blog and everything that goes into it is something I really enjoy doing and will be doing more of going forward.  You can expect to see much more regular posts starting next week.

But for today, I wanted to share a couple of pictures of the kids enjoying the pool.  This is how we have been spending our summer weekends.  Both kids love swimming in the pool.  As soon as it’s mentioned, Alexis goes into her room gets her suit and brings it back for you to help her get dressed.  You have to be ready to go when you mention swimming around that girl!  Like mother like daughter, she is my little mermaid, she loves to swim.  She has no fear of the water, jumping in, going under, splashing around, she loves it all.  It’s very nice that she also loves her puddle jumper!

Dylan also loves the water, floating around is his jam although has been experimenting with goggles and going under water more.  He also loves to splash and play with squirt guns, so if you see him, watch out, you will probably end up wet.  I think by next summer we will have two little fish around here.  I’m thinking swimming lessons for two will be on our agenda this fall and winter.

I hope you have had a wonderful summer!

ALEXIS’ BEDROOM INSPIRATION

This post contains affiliate links.  That means if you click on a link and make a purchase from the site, I will earn a small commission from the sale.

Alexis is fifteen months old and her bedroom is still a blank slate; beige walls, white furniture, tan chair.  The only indication that it’s a little girls’ room is the pink sheet in the crib.

I know exactly what I want her room to look like but can’t execute it because we have plans to move in the not so distant future and what I want to do is not at all re-sale friendly.  Regardless of whether we sell our current home tomorrow, in six months or another year and a half; her room is in dire need of some personality.

I have found plenty of options for things I like for her room, but because it isn’t what I have had my heart set on, I haven’t been able to commit to something.  I have tried to go with things that would work if she was still in a crib when we moved and I’ve entertained going completely different and just starting over in the new house, but that didn’t work either.  I know I need to do something to give her space a little personality and make it special for her.  This is where we are going to start:

AlexisroomQuilt, Sheet, Book Caddy, Mirror, Art

While this is totally different than what I ultimately want her room to look like in our next home.  I love it for her and think it fits her perfectly.  I picked up a wood and aqua frame for Alexis when we were in Maui and it matches perfectly with the quilt and book rack.  There is a wall in her room with nothing on it except her rocking chair,  I am doing a gallery wall and while looking for prints to mix in with photos, found this adorable abstract print on Minted.  I love how the colors tie in; the mustard yellow, corals and pinks, but isn’t themed to the quilt.  I can’t wait to see it come together and give her a space of her own, it’s long over due.

Be sure to check out Minted’s Spring Event where all baby and kids products and wall art is currently 15% off site wide!

WISH LIST: TEA COLLECTION

This post contains affiliate links.  That means if you click on a link and make a purchase from the site, I will earn a small commission from the sale.

I stumbled onto Tea Collection when I was pregnant with Dylan and fell in love with their patterns and prints!  They nail it every time!

Last summer we had a couple of Tea dresses for Alexis and they were so cute and some of my favorites.  Now that Alexis is walking, I am even more excited to be able to dress her in some of their cotton dresses for summer.  It gets so hot here, dresses will be perfect for everyday.  Their newly released India and swimwear collections have so many cute pieces.  Here are a few that I have my eye on for spring and summer for Alexis.

  1. This is probably my favorite dress.  I love the colors and print.  And this style transitions nicely from spring to fall with leggings during cooler months.  How cute would it be with some pink leggings?
  2. I love the rash guard for extra sun protection the kids and this purple one would be so cute with Alexis’ red hair.
  3. These bikini bottoms make the perfect pairing for the rash guard in number 2.
  4. This tunic style dress is another favorite.  I would pair it with pink leggings and number 6.
  5. Tea also offers clothing sets so you are sure to get a few pieces that mix and match perfectly.  I adore this one!
  6. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Native shoes and I love that I can get them with my other Tea goodies.  Plus, how cute would they be with 1 or 4?
  7. Lately I have been loving Alexis in a tunic and this print is so pretty!
  8. This is another dress that is perfect for everyday wear and I love the lotus print.  We would get lots of use out of it for sure.
  9. This is a baby clothing set that I adore.  You can see how easy it is to mix and match their pieces, which I just love!  You can see all of the baby girl new arrivals here.

Check out all of the girls’ new arrivals here and you can see the boys’ collection here.

ALEXIS’ SIX MONTH PHOTOS

We had Alexis’ six month photos taken about a month ago and recently got them back.  Marnee of Marriott Photography is taking her first year pictures and they do not disappoint.  Her work is beautiful and I am so happy she has captured these images for us.  I cannot wait to get these printed and in frames.

Alexis was teething when these pictures were taken.  The morning of the photo shoot was rough, she was not a happy girl at all.  However, once we got to Marnee’s studio, she was so happy and cooperative.  Here are a few of my favorites from this session.

FIREFIGHTING MUSEUM

To say that Dylan likes fire trucks is a gross understatement.  They are quite possibly his favorite thing.  So, this weekend, we took him to a firefighting museum.  They have a number of firefighting items on display dating back to 1725.  In addition to the historical items, they have a 1951 fire truck that kids can explore as well as an area for children to play and learn about fire safety.  We happened to be there the day of a special event and pretty much had the museum to ourselves.  Dylan had so much fun and has been asking to go back already!

How cool is some of this historic gear?  Leather hats and buckets.  They had a really cool leather and metal fire hose as well.  The carriages and sleds they used were pretty amazing and so beautiful.

Dylan loved the children’s exhibit where you learn about fire safety, can drive a child size historic fire truck and dress up as a firefighter.  Alexis got in on the action too, she makes a pretty cute firefighter.
