THANKFUL FOR THESE TWO

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are enjoying your day with family and friends. We have a pretty low key weekend planned.

Since it’s the season of family photos and I’ve never shared these I thought it would be kind of fun to do a throwback Thursday and share some photos we had taken as part of Lex’s one year pictures.  It’s hard to believe that was two years ago already!

Like many moms, I had been dreaming of the perfect first birthday pictures for Lex. However, as we got closer to the session, it was pretty clear to me that we weren’t going to get the perfect smash cake in tutu shots I was dreaming of and had to come up with something else.

Lex wasn’t always the most cooperative person to photograph when it came to professional pics. If you missed her nine month and one year sessions (yes we did one year twice if that tells you anything), you and see them here and here. Spoiler alert, crying is a theme in both.

A few days before her (first) one year pictures, I emailed our photographer Marnee and asked how she felt about me brining some props – a cozy coupe and a small tree and lucky for me, she was on board right away.  I love these pictures and am so thankful to call these two mine.

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS: DAY THREE

It’s day three of the 12 days of Christmas and it’s pajama party day!12 days of Christmas: day threetop row: one | two | three| four

bottom row: one | two | three

I’m a sucker for kids in pajamas.  They all look so stinking cute in them and holiday pj’s are my favorite.  Lex and I recently picked up some holiday pajamas for her and Dylan.  They were both so excited to wear their new pj’s that night.  I love that the holiday pajamas this year have more of a winter theme so they can wear them all winter long.

Lex loves that there are so many unisex pairs so she can match Dylan.  She seriously LOVED matching him last year and got so excited anytime he wore red pajamas that she would pull out her ho ho ho pajamas to “match”.  They didn’t match since he was wearing fire truck pj’s but to her, they were close enough and matching is the way to her heart.

You can find day one here and day two here.

HUNTINGTON PIER

When we were in California for fall break in October, we arranged to have some beach pictures taken of the kids. Lex wasn’t having it and instead of fighting her, we just had photos taken of Dylan and I couldn’t love them more. Well, maybe I could if I had matching pics of Lex…dyl1 dyl2 dyl7 dyl9 dyl4 dyl8 dyl6 dyl11We love Huntington Beach so it’s quite fitting that these were taken under Huntington Pier.  I can’t wait to print them and hang them in our new home.  Speaking of the new house, we went from a slab to a fully framed house last week!

NOVEMBER WISHES

I can’t believe we are already halfway through November.  Where has the year gone?  We still (can you believe it) haven’t gotten fall weather yet, ugh.  We get cooler temperatures in the mornings and evenings but mid day is still well into the 80’s.  I can’t wait to change out our shorts and tee’s for jeans and long sleeves.

I am so in love with Childhoods Clothing’s fall line.  Their stuff is just the coziest for fall and winter days and nights.  The new peplum sweatshirt is a favorite for Lex and I love the button details on the hoodie for Dylan.  The details make it so much more than just a sweatshirt.  November Wishescup | plate | hoodie | gobble banner | peplum top | bows

The turkey on these cups and plates are so fun.  I love the feathers and know my kids would love to eat and drink from them for every meal.  The kids are sure to love these placemats too.  The gobble sign is the perfect addition for simple Thanksgiving decor before busing out the big guns for Christmas.  And finally, the wine colored bows are the perfect pairing with the mustard peplum (or even the peacock hoodie) for fall.  Paired with some skinny jeans or jeggings and boots or sneakers and your little lady is ready for any adventure.

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS: DAY TWO

This post contains affiliate links. That means if you click on a link and make a purchase from the site, I will earn a small commission from the sale.

It’s day two of the 12 days of Christmas and I’m so excited to share today’s look with you!  It’s the perfect everyday dress.  It’s a bit festive, reminds me of a candy cane, but can easily be worn past the holidays and still be appropriate.  I mean, how cute would it be for Valentine’s Day?  I love pieces like this for Lex.

Since we lead a very casual lifestyle and Lex is in daycare all week, fancy dresses don’t get a ton of use.  Lately all she wants to wear are “twirly” dresses.  I love the stripes and it’s got the twirl factor for her.  I can see her wearing this one all the time!

I love the striped dress with the unexpected mint tights.  We would wear it with sneakers for running around town or running on the playground and a cutest bow for the holidays!  It would also be super cute with this mint bow or pom hat, or with our favorite gold glitter clip.  And for colder weather, I love this cozy sweater with it!  Easy, stylish and comfortable.  Perfect for making everyday a little merrier during the holidays!
