FLORAL IN FEBRUARY

ff2

It has been warm here for a few weeks now.  Spring definitely came early and while I wish it would have stayed cooler longer, I love being able to get more wear out of my favorite pieces from last summer.  I love shopping for Alexis.  All of the little girls clothing and accessories are just so cute.  I could go nuts but, in an effort to have less “stuff”, I am choosing pieces I love that can be paired with other things she already owns.  For our first Spring like day, she wore floral leggings, a white eyelet top, Minnie Mouse shoes, because she LOVES Minnie Mouse and for about ten minutes, the most adorable pink striped headband for our trip to the library.  The kids loved bringing home new books to read and even more, playing with the Lego and train tables in the library.  Alexis also thought it was pretty fun to climb into the child sized chairs by herself. I love her independence.  More and more she wants to do whatever Dylan is doing and being more than two years younger isn’t holding her back.

WISH LIST: TEA COLLECTION

I stumbled onto Tea Collection when I was pregnant with Dylan and fell in love with their patterns and prints!  They nail it every time!

Last summer we had a couple of Tea dresses for Alexis and they were so cute and some of my favorites.  Now that Alexis is walking, I am even more excited to be able to dress her in some of their cotton dresses for summer.  It gets so hot here, dresses will be perfect for everyday.  Their newly released India and swimwear collections have so many cute pieces.  Here are a few that I have my eye on for spring and summer for Alexis.

  1. This is probably my favorite dress.  I love the colors and print.  And this style transitions nicely from spring to fall with leggings during cooler months.  How cute would it be with some pink leggings?
  2. I love the rash guard for extra sun protection the kids and this purple one would be so cute with Alexis’ red hair.
  3. These bikini bottoms make the perfect pairing for the rash guard in number 2.
  4. This tunic style dress is another favorite.  I would pair it with pink leggings and number 6.
  5. Tea also offers clothing sets so you are sure to get a few pieces that mix and match perfectly.  I adore this one!
  6. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Native shoes and I love that I can get them with my other Tea goodies.  Plus, how cute would they be with 1 or 4?
  7. Lately I have been loving Alexis in a tunic and this print is so pretty!
  8. This is another dress that is perfect for everyday wear and I love the lotus print.  We would get lots of use out of it for sure.
  9. This is a baby clothing set that I adore.  You can see how easy it is to mix and match their pieces, which I just love!  You can see all of the baby girl new arrivals here.

HEART BREAKERS

I can hardly believe it’s February already!  January flew by and February is sure to do the same.  After a couple of cool, rainy days, we were back to our sunny and warm weather and took advantage of playing outside while our families in the Midwest were getting a snow storm.  Dylan got a sports set for Christmas and he loves running after and kicking the soccer ball.  We are looking into a soccer league for him this spring for sure!  I love watching him try new things and so far he loves ice skating and soccer.  And yes, he is wearing his Croc’s; he LOVES them!  Alexis also enjoyed being able to run around and stole the ball when Dylan wasn’t looking.  She doesn’t walk, she runs, so the grass is the perfect spot for her.

Dylan had the cutest heart breaker tee last year for Valentine’s Day; so when I saw this year’s version, I picked up one for each of them.  Generally speaking I find it hard to dress my kids in holiday geared clothing.  I never seem to get it right and always wait way too long to bring it out.  It doesn’t help that we were still wearing summer clothes in December this year so anything from Halloween or Christmas, was worn maybe once or twice.  However, I love Valentine’s Day and Fourth of July because I can pick up a thing or two and they get more use out of it.  Hearts are a staple in many girls’ wardrobes and red white and blue are acceptable year round as well!  Here are a few of my wish list items for Valentine’s Day and beyond for Alexis.

ON THE ICE

Nick grew up playing hockey.  From the time we knew Dylan was a boy he started looking at toddler skates.  It was only a matter of time before he got him skating.  This year for Christmas, Nick got Dylan hockey skates and Saturday was his first time on the ice.  I really didn’t know if he would even want to get onto the ice when we got there, but he was all about it and looked so grown up in his skates walking to the rink.  He has a very serious look on his face, but I assure you, he enjoyed himself and is asking to go back.  They have even signed up for a series of parent assisted skating lessons starting next month.    He was so proud of himself when he was done (we were very proud of him too).  I can’t wait to watch him improve and get more confidence.  His best buddy also got skates for Christmas, we are already planning some skating play dates for the boys!

DISNEY ON ICE

Time is ticking away much too quickly for my liking.  The kids are growing up way too fast and more often than not, I find myself feeling like I am rushing around, never spending as much quality time with them as I would like.  I am trying much harder to spend quality time with each of them, doing what they like to do each day.  More often than not it will be riding bikes or playing with cars, doing puzzles or feeding a baby doll, but when we saw Disney on Ice was coming to town we knew Dylan would love it.

This past weekend, we took Dylan to Disney on Ice for the first time.  Dylan has been to slept through a couple of movies and has been to some sporting events but hasn’t been to anything like this before.  He’s loved Mickey since he was a baby, so we thought it might be something he would enjoy as well as the time with just us.  Since he hasn’t seen a ton of Disney movies and isn’t into the princesses, he didn’t know who everyone was, but every time Mickey, Goofy and Pluto were on stage he loved it.  The show was called “Let’s Celebrate” and featured skits for a number of holidays and parties.  After a short intermission, Dyl actually started to dance in his seat during the Mardi Gras skit.  Overall, we all really enjoyed our day together and cannot wait to take Alexis with us next year!

Sadly, I don’t have any good pictures of Dylan at the show.  Taking pictures without flash and with the ice and stage lights is hard!  Here are a few of our favorites.
