PLAYING IN THE RAIN

We don’t get a lot of rain, so when we do it’s an impromptu splash in the puddles kind of day around here.  We got a rain storm Saturday evening and before I knew it Dylan and Nick were outside and Dylan was jumping away.  He was so excited about the rain, he forgot his pants!

Of course Alexis wanted to watch, so we watched from the dry garage.  One day soon enough sweet girl, you will be out there too.

RAIN-5 RAIN-6

Before long, he ditched the shirt, preferring to play in his undies and called it quits soon after.  He said he was cold, despite the 90 degree temperature.

RAIN-7He is already looking for the next puddle to jump in.  We hope it rains again real soon!

GIRLS FALL FASHION

Yesterday we looked at boys fall fashion and today it’s the girls turn.  There are so many cute fall pieces out.  Maybe it’s because it is my first year dressing Alexis and it’s like playing dress up, but there are so many things I would just love to see her in.  Here are a few of my current favorites.

girls

  1. We love Peek t-shirts.  I love this with #6 and 10.  Perfect for layering with a long sleeve tee when its cooler too.  Peek
  2. I love this olive jacket.  The heart patch makes it extra cute.  Peek
  3. I cannot wait for tight weather.  I discovered how cute they were late in the season last year.  Perfectly paired with #4.  Old Navy
  4. This sweatshirt dress is adorable and so cute with #3, or leggings. Gap
  5. I cannot wait for Alexis to be old enough for some jewelry.  I love this for an older girl sticking out from a tee or, perfect for a pop of color with #7.  J Crew
  6. Love these leggings with #1 and #10.  Peek
  7. I love the baseball tee.  How cute would it be with #5, 8, 9 & 12? J Crew
  8. This puffer vest is ADORABLE.  A winter staple for sure.  Gap
  9. Distressed skinny jeans? Yes, please!  Love these!  Gap
  10. Learning to walk will be so much fun in some cute mocs! Freshly Picked
  11. I love the flutter sleeves and the print.  Perfect for late summer or next spring!  Gap
  12. Sneakers are a must and these are light weight, perfect for a new walker.  Nike

See yesterday’s post for fashion for the little guy in your life.  I have a LONG wait, but am really looking forward to the cooler temperatures.  Hurry up November!

BOYS FALL FASHION

Fall fashion is hitting the stores, which is hard to grasp since we are in the middle of summer and it’s well over 100 degrees here.  However, since having kids, I have learned to shop early for seasonal changes and holidays because if you wait, it’s gone, and retailers are on to the next thing.  So, while we will not need or use a number of these items for months, I wanted to see what is new for fall for the kids and how we can incorporate what we have been wearing all summer into the fall.  It is also my first fall dressing Alexis, and I am incredibly excited!  She loves standing and baby dresses will be so cute once she is walking!

Dylan is three and although better about letting me help dress him than he used to be, he still has an opinion.  Jeans are not his favorite and neither are button down shirts.  As cute as I think he looks in both, I tend to keep my request for things I know he doesn’t enjoy wearing for events that matter to me, like family photos.  Since we lead a pretty casual lifestyle, this works well.  For Dyl, comfort is key.  Just like we love the Old Navy shorts for summer, we love the Gap track pants and jersey pants for everyday wear in the winter.  Here are a few of my favorites for Dylan:

fall-1

  1. We love graphic tee shirts around here. This is perfect on its own or layered over #2. Gap
  2. These striped tee’s are great on their own or as layering pieces.  We had some last year and will get a couple again this year too. Gap
  3. I love Dyl in a baseball tee.  Great for everyday wear. Gap
  4. This hoodie is adorable. Gap
  5. A light jacket is usually all we need.  Love this one. Old Navy
  6. Since it has the feel of a tee shirt, maybe he won’t put up a fight… I can wish, right?  Perfect for a slightly dressier option.  It’s a win for both Dylan and I. Old Navy
  7. He wears these daily to school in the fall/winter.  A Dylan staple for sure. Gap
  8. For something nicer than his Croc’s or tennis shoes, these are a good choice. Old Navy
  9. He picks out his own shoes and like his dad, tends to choose the brightest pair he can find.  These fit that requirement. Nike
  10. I love these skinny jeans.  Perfect with any of the shirts shown and love with #8. Gap

Check back tomorrow for favorites for the little lady in your life.

ALEXIS’ SIX MONTH PHOTOS

We had Alexis’ six month photos taken about a month ago and recently got them back.  Marnee of Marriott Photography is taking her first year pictures and they do not disappoint.  Her work is beautiful and I am so happy she has captured these images for us.  I cannot wait to get these printed and in frames.

Alexis was teething when these pictures were taken.  The morning of the photo shoot was rough, she was not a happy girl at all.  However, once we got to Marnee’s studio, she was so happy and cooperative.  Here are a few of my favorites from this session.

SUN PROTECTION STYLE

When Dylan was born, our pediatrician made sure we knew how careful we needed to be with him in the sun because of his fair skin and red hair.  The same is now also true for Alexis.  Since it is so hot here in the summer, we usually limit our time outside as much as possible.  When in the pool, both kids love being in their floats with canopies, which is nice because it also provides some shade and sun protection.  However, when we were in California a few weeks ago, we were outside enjoying the beautiful weather and didn’t have the luxury of having the shade from the pool floats; which resulted in a slightly sunburned baby.  So, I came home and scoured the internet for some cute rash guards for both kids.  Dylan actually has a rash guard from last summer and Alexis will have one before long!  Here are a few of my favorite styles.
