FIRE TRUCK FUN

Instead of a birthday party for Dylan this year, we sent a fire truck to his daycare for an afternoon of fun.  Since Dylan loves fire trucks, I thought it would be the perfect treat – a fire truck him and his friends can get inside, dress up as firemen and put out pretend fires.  What I didn’t anticipate, was that he wouldn’t like the noise of the truck.  So while his friends really enjoyed it, Dylan did not.  The men running the truck were great and tried getting Dylan to let loose.  They even gave him a birthday present, a little fire truck set, which was his favorite part of the day.

TOES IN THE SAND

We spent the fourth of July weekend in San Diego.  Saturday, we took the kids to Coronado Island to spend some time at the beach before it got too busy.  It was the first time at the beach for Alexis and she really liked having her feet in the sand.  Dylan on the other hand, is not a huge fan of the sand.  Once he gets down to the shoreline, he is a much happier guy.  I hope he grows to like the beach more.  We are looking forward to many more trips to San Diego and to the beach.

RED, WHITE AND CUTE

I typically shy away from holiday clothing for my kids because I never know how soon is too soon to wear it and how long after the holiday it is still acceptable, so I usually stick to holiday pajamas.  However, I love the red, white and blue clothes for Independence Day and long after.  The bright, crisp colors look good all summer long.  Here are some of the things I am loving for Fourth of July and beyond.

It will be a sad day when Alexis can no longer wear this red romper; it is one of my favorite things in her closet.  The bow on the back is adorable.

Dylan woke up from a nap when we were taking these pictures and wanted to take some too.  I love how much he loves his sister, I hope it never changes.

SUMMER PAJAMAS

I always think babies and toddlers look so cute in their pajamas.  Which usually means we have some for the next season/size on hand.  Recently my husband asked if we had summer pajamas for Alexis and I realized we did not.  I also noticed Dylan’s were from last year and getting too small, so I started looking and there are some really cute summer pajamas out this year!  I thought I would share some of my favorites.

FIREFIGHTING MUSEUM

To say that Dylan likes fire trucks is a gross understatement.  They are quite possibly his favorite thing.  So, this weekend, we took him to a firefighting museum.  They have a number of firefighting items on display dating back to 1725.  In addition to the historical items, they have a 1951 fire truck that kids can explore as well as an area for children to play and learn about fire safety.  We happened to be there the day of a special event and pretty much had the museum to ourselves.  Dylan had so much fun and has been asking to go back already!

How cool is some of this historic gear?  Leather hats and buckets.  They had a really cool leather and metal fire hose as well.  The carriages and sleds they used were pretty amazing and so beautiful.

Dylan loved the children’s exhibit where you learn about fire safety, can drive a child size historic fire truck and dress up as a firefighter.  Alexis got in on the action too, she makes a pretty cute firefighter.
