MINI FALL CAPSULE WARDROBE – PART 1

The idea of having a capsule wardrobe has intrigued me for awhile.  However, I never fully embraced the idea for two reasons:

First, I didn’t think I could or would purge everything, every purse, every accessory every everything!  Since I knew we were moving and had a closet full of stuff that was never worn and would never be worn by me again I began purging.  The more I purged from my closet and dresser, the more I wanted to get rid of. When we knew we would be renting through the fall and winter months it felt like the perfect time to put all of those maybe items into boxes and into storage.  It was a way to get them out of my closet without getting rid of them.  When it’s time to move into our home next spring, I can really decide if they should be part of my wardrobe or be donated.

The second reason I didn’t get on board the capsule wardrobe train earlier was because I’ve had the intention of taking better care of myself for awhile but never fully committing to it.  What’s the point of creating a capsule wardrobe and possibly purchasing new items only for them not to fit a few months later?  The point is to have something to wear, something to feel good in, and to be put together running around town.

So much of what I’ve been wearing has long seen better days.  Since I have to replace many staples in my closet anyway, this is the perfect time to both try out the capsule wardrobe concept and take better care of myself.  I’ve decided to really try taking better care of myself and an onsite gym leaves little room for excuses. I am going to create a capsule wardrobe for the fall and winter.

Whether I tried creating a capsule or not, I need new clothes and shoes for the cooler months.  Since I also plan on losing some weight, I am going to keep those purchases to a minimum as they are not forever pieces in my wardrobe.

I’m calling this a mini capsule because it has substantially fewer pieces than a traditional capsule wardrobe.

Here’s my rough list:

If you use a capsule wardrobe, I would love to hear how you like it and any tips or ticks you have.  I will post updates once I get this project underway.  Wish me luck.
