CURRENT SKIN CARE ROUTINE

I always love trying new products and often change up what I use on my hair, skin and for makeup.  Even if I really love something, I usually grow tired of it and think there is something better out there and start trying new things which is how I found myself using an old favorite again.

Today I wanted to share my current skin care routine.  If I would have been blogging ten years ago, this would be a repeat post.  Approximately ten years ago I stumbled onto Trish McEvoy makeup and fell in love.  Shortly after trying and loving her makeup, I tired the skin care line and fell in love with her skin care products too.  Now that I am using them again, I am not even sure why I ever stayed from her brand.  It’s good and definitely one of my all time favorites.

I use the same products day and night.  I love that her products don’t leave my skin feeling heavy or greasy and I have seen improvement in the short month or so since I have started using them again.  Who doesn’t love quick results?

I start by washing my face with the Gentle Cleansing Wash.  I either use my hands or Clarisonic, if I am not being lazy.  After drying my face, I use the Daily Exfoliator Beta Hydroxy Pads and once a week (at night) use the Correct and Brighten Weekly Peel.  Next I use three different serums: Line Eraser on my neck and chest, Beauty Booster Serum all over my face and Beauty Booster Eye Serum under and around my eyes.  I finish with the Beauty Booster Cream or Beauty Booster Cream with SPF 30 if I know I will be spending the day in the sun.

If you want to try just a few products; I recommend the Gentle Cleansing Wash, the Daily Exfoliator Beta Hydroxy Pads and the Beauty Booster Cream.

BACK TO SCHOOL

This is Dylan’s last week of summer vacation before school starts and he’s officially a kindergartner.  The last month or so has been jammed packed.  I will post more about it in the coming weeks, but today wanted to share a few back to school favorites for Dylan and the little dudes in your life.back to schooltee | hoodie |tee | backpack | pants | long sleeve tee | shorts | sweatshirt | shoes

Peek Kids is always a favorite around here and the perfect place to shop to add a few new tee’s to Dylan’s closet to make him ready for kindergarten.  The other day Dylan and I stopped into our local store to check out the new arrivals in person.  These are a few things we both really like and will be perfect for him.

The tee’s are perfect with his favorite shorts now or the softest jeans once the weather cools off (probably not until November – eek!)  This hoodie is the perfect addition to any outfit for cool mornings on the playground later this fall or in the air-conditioned class room now.  This sweatshirt is my absolute favorite.  He is the leader of the pack and makes friends wherever he goes.  I am sure he will come home with a bunch of new friends on his first day.

We got Dylan this backpack last year for preschool and even after a year of use, it’s in excellent condition.  I was flipping through the PBK catalog a couple of weeks ago and he asked for the matching lunch box, which we ordered with his name on it to match his backpack.  As we get closer to the first day of school, I have mixed feelings on sending him to school with his name on his backpack for anyone to see and call out to him by name.  If I decide against using it for school this year, this bag is the perfect size.

All of his supplies have been purchased and I am still trying to figure out why each child needs twelve glue sticks.  We are going to meet his teacher and visit his classroom later this week and on Monday he’s officially a kindergartener!

FIRE TRUCK PARTY INVITATION

Dylan’s fifth birthday is quickly approaching.  How is it possible that he is almost five?!?!  When I asked what kind of party he wanted he answered that he wanted a fire truck themed party at the same indoor play place we had his fourth birthday party.  We had such a great experience there last year I was more than happy to oblige.  Since the party space at the venue is pretty open and shared with other parties that might also be happening; decor will be kept pretty minimal but it’s fun to tie in a theme with a fun invitation, balloons, party favors, thank you cards and of course the cake!fire truck party invitation

I had these invitations made on Etsy and could not be happier with how they turned out or the quality.  The dog driving the fire truck is my favorite part and so totally Dylan.  The flames are the backside of the card!  How fun, right?  Now if only finding a baker for his cake was only just as easy!

HAIR CARE FAVORITES

Finding the right hair and beauty products can be quite the challenge.  I’ve tried my fair share over the years and finally have a combination of products I love and work really well on my dry, color treated hair.  These have been favorites of mine for almost a year and are too good not to share.

My all time favorite shampoo and conditioner are the Inphenom shampoo and treatment conditioner.  It’s good you guys!  I used to love this and this, and still will grab one of them if I run out and need to pick up something quickly from Ulta, but Inphenom is my first choice.  My dry, color treated hair has been much healthier since I made the switch last summer.

After washing my hair, I use Unite 7 seconds conditioner and U-oil.  If I leave my hair to air dry, those are the only products I use.  If I am going to blow out my hair, I will use the Oribe Royal Blowout before blow drying.

The U-oil is my favorite argon oil and I’ve tried a few.  Not only do I love using it on my hair, I use on Lexi’s hair too.  She really didn’t get hair until she was two, like mother like daughter I guess, and her hair is super dry. Even if her head looks kind of greasy just after putting it on her hair, within minutes it’s soaked in and her hair is much softer.

I love switching up my routine and trying new products.  Do you have any must haves I should try?

FEELS LIKE SUMMER

It’s felt like summer here for well over a month now.  We’ve spent lots of time swimming and it shows. Both Dylan and Lex are getting to be pretty good swimmers and rarely use their puddle jumpers anymore.  The day these photos were taken was really the last time they asked for them on.  By the end of summer, I think we will have two little fish on our hands.feels like summer 7 feels like summer 5 feels like summer 4 feels like summer 3 feels-like-summer-2.1 feels like summer 1

Lexi with her goggles cracks me up.  She’s two and a half and can get a ring from the bottom of the pool if you help her get down there.  She’s half mermaid and I love it.
